Reflexology
What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a complementary therapy which works on the feet or hands enabling the body to heal itself.
The art of Reflexology dates back to the ancient Egypt, India and China. Dr William Fitzgerald brought it to the West in 1913 where the therapy was known as "zone therapy". He noted that reflex areas on the feet and hands were linked to other areas and organs of the body within the same zones.
It was developed by an American called Eunice Ingham. She observed that congestion or tension in any part of the foot is mirrored in the corresponding part of the body.
As I previously stated, Reflexology is a Complementary therapy which works on the feet to heal the whole person not just the prevailing symptoms. It is not however an alternative to seeking medical advice or attention.
How can Reflexology help me?
Reflexology benefit… It is a gentle therapy using pressure techniques and massage to help the body heal itself restoring its own natural balance.
Reflexology can help improve conditions including:
Sleep disorders
Hormonal imbalances
Stress-related conditions
Headaches and Migraines
Fertility
Digestive problems
Back, neck, shoulder, knee, ankle disorders.
Each session works on an individual basis and will be tailored accordingly. Reflexologists do not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe medication.
Reflexology is suitable for all ages and may bring relief from a wide range of acute and chronic conditions I may recommend a course of treatment to address a certain condition, therefore clients tend to continue with monthly sessions to help maintain health and well being.
With ever increasing levels of stress, it is important for people to take more responsibility for their own health and care needs.
How will I feel after treatment?
What will the Reflexology Effects be after treatment?
After a couple of treatments your body may respond in a definite way. Everyone responds differently, usually clients report a feeling of well being and relaxation. Sometimes clients may feel tired, nauseous and symptoms may feel worse. This should only last for one day, then a remarkable difference will be felt. This is a sign that the body is responding to the treatment which is part of the healing process.
This is important and you should feed this back to me so I am able to tailor a treatment plan specific to your needs.
Each treatment usually lasts for one hour. If you have any skin condition on your feet such as atheletes foot, verucca or a fungal infection, you should seek treatment from your GP before booking a Reflexology appointment.
